  • Good things must share! We used to visit Mun Ting Xiang at Hougang Green shopping mall for their chicken cutlet fried rice and curry chicken!! But we were so disappointed to know that they were closed when we wanted to visit after circuit breaker last year. Recently we found out that they opened outlets at Hougang and Ang Mo Kio! The curry is so yummy, with a little sweet taste to it. The chicken cutlet has crispy skin, though a little sinful. What’s best is you can join membership for free, earn points ($1 = 1 point) and get a chop for every $10 spent. They are even having promotion for getting credits (check out in one of the pics for info). I got a pretty chio silver card by purchasing $200 credits and enjoy additional 10% off when spending! • Food portions are huge, great for value. Didn't realize it was in a coffeeshop instead of a restaurant. Taste great too. Very unassuming place in the heartlands. Will visit again!

  • Mun Ting Xiang (Midtown Residences): A Cozy Taiwanese Comfort Food Spot with Room for Improvement (4/5 Stars) Rating: • Atmosphere: 3.5/5 (Cozy and relaxed second-level dining space, but the faulty air conditioning made it feel stuffy) • Food Quality: 4.5/5 (Authentic and flavorful Taiwanese dishes, with highlights like the Braised Pork Belly Rice and Ah Ma Curry Chicken Omu Rice) • Service: 4/5 (Friendly and helpful service from the lady boss) • Value: 4/5 (Reasonable prices for the quality of food and portions) Overall: 4/5 Donkey and I were looking for a casual spot for a tasty Taiwanese dinner and ended up at Mun Ting Xiang, tucked away in Midtown Residences. We were initially surprised by the small, takeaway-style setup on the first level, but the lady boss quickly pointed us towards the second level, which offered a more relaxing dining atmosphere. However, we found the air a bit stuffy and had to switch on the fan to feel more comfortable. The lady boss explained that the air conditioning unit was currently faulty and that they were working on getting it fixed. This might explain why we were the only diners, as all other patrons opted for takeaway. Food We decided to try the lady boss’s recommendations. Donkey went for the Value Set Meal, which included Braised Pork Belly Rice, Salt & Pepper Crispy Chicken, and Green Milk Tea, while I opted for the Ah Ma Curry Chicken Omu Rice. The Braised Pork Belly Rice (Lu Rou Fan) was a delightful experience. The pork belly was incredibly tender and flavorful, bathed in a rich, dark brown sauce that wasn’t too salty. If you prefer stronger flavors and saltiness, you might find it a bit mild. The dish arrived piping hot in a claypot bowl, adding a nice touch of warmth to the meal. The soft-boiled egg and pickled mustard greens were perfect complements to the braised pork. Ah Ma Curry Chicken Omu Rice was equally impressive. The curry was a rich, dark orange-brown, with visible chunks of tender chicken and potatoes. The sauce was creamy and not too spicy, served piping hot in a claypot bowl. The fluffy omelet wrapped around the rice added a nice touch of lightness. The combination of the creamy curry, tender chicken, and fluffy omelet created a harmonious blend of flavors and textures. Overall Experience The overall experience at Mun Ting Xiang was very acceptable. The food was authentic, flavorful, and well-presented. The service was friendly and helpful, and the second level had a relaxed atmosphere, though the faulty air conditioning made it feel a bit stuffy. We're looking forward to returning once the air conditioning is fixed!

  • I tried the dinner here. Ordered the set meal for 11.90. Set meal comes with a main, and add on dish, and a beverage drink. For the mains, I was recommended the honey chicken cutlet (fried) with the curry omu rice that came with brocoli. I also ordered the salted fried chicken for the add on sides, and honey tea for the beverage. Taste wise really on par with standard good Taiwanese food. Food definitely on the average to above average zone. Only downside would be I would recommend to use fried rice / olive rice instead of just white rice. Service wise the staff was good. The two Chinese ladies were very patient with my slow ordering and asking them questions about the menu. Food was also served fast. The waitress brought the food up for me and explained to me about some of their promotions they had. Atmosphere wise was on the losing side. I thought they would have air conditioned the upper story but they only 2 fans working. Could see that the air condition was off with a red light. Despite the less than ideal atmosphere, I do still think they deserve five stars for the good food and service they are providing. I would however encourage them to provide smaller and cheaper set meals for those who don't eat so much, going towards a healthier sg. Came here again in mid Jan. Service is still as good as ever. They increased the number of fans making it much more comfortable. Tried the ja Jiang rice which was good also. The pickled vegetables obviously freshly made which is a good sign. Yolk was also runny. Overall very good place. 5 stars.
